20 tracks highlighting the great riches of the African choral gospel choirs. The rhythmic acappella harmonising is little short of incredible, tighter and sharper than other brands of choral music could dream of. The great skill is, of course, in the building up of those immense, pulsating rhythms, so difficult in acappella, but apparently as natural as breathing to these good folk. Singing styles on show cover Sotho gospel, Mbube and Zulu gospel and this is some of the most spine-chilling music on the planet. If the sound of Ladysmith Black Mambazo did anything for you, this compilation should be grabbed at top speed.
