'The Time Project' is a concept album based around the theme of time (or the lack of it). Composer/producer Phil Baggaley has long been renowned for creating powerful various artists albums such as this, and though this latest doesn't quite reach the towering heights of the 'City Of Gold' classic, the mix here of familiar and new participants is as strong as ever with the poignant poetry of Adrian Plass and the Elton John-like voice of Mal Pope being a particular pleasure to the ear. Other top-rate contributors are singers Peter Webb, Jo Carlier and Julie Costello. Launched in January 2010 to raise funds for the Helen & Douglas House Hospice, it will initially be distributed independently. Mal Pope opens with "Time Waits For No Man" which sets the theme and is the most powerful track. Mal's voice is also on top form. Other highlights include the challenging "All The Time You Need" and "Rest" both sung by Julie. Adrian Plass' poetry is simply outstanding and you constantly stop in your tracks as you listen. This is an album not designed as background music, but to challenge life in the fast lane of the 21st century. Recommended.
