Hmm - another worship box set appears in a now heavily crowded market. This project consists of three discs, with the themes "Praise & Thanksgiving", "Repentance & Cleansing" and "The Glory Of God" respectively. Each disc carries no fewer than 16 or 17 praise and worship songs selected from the vast Kingsway archive. The majority of tracks featured date from between 2001 and '07, while you also get some recent versions of quite oldies, such as Bilbrough's classic "I Am A New Creation". But while writers' names and copyright dates are helpfully provided, the names of vocalists on certain tracks (such as the female lead singer on the aforementioned number) remain unclear. Mostly it's obvious, however - thus Redman appears with three or four from his stunning repertoire; folksy Irishman Brian Houston also crops up repeatedly, as does Paul Oakley, Stuart Townend and Lara Martin. The three-fold division into song types might be helpful to some - I personally am most drawn to the final category - these generally comprise tunes often termed "worship" rather than "praise" - deep, and often more gently-paced songs of adoration. Overall, it's a pleasant and diverse compilation - although its most genuinely original aspect is the artwork - a number of reproductions appear from artist Tim Steward, whose profile is also given.
