Solid State are making waves in the hardcore scene in America, with hits in the Christian and mainstream metal charts from Underoath and Norma Jean who lead their brigade of roaring vocalists and downtuned guitars. This DVD, though a relatively sparse offering, brings you no less than three Underoath videos and two from Norma Jean, whilst Demon Hunter are also given two opportunities to show the world they haven't lost their metal edge. Special mention has to go to August Burns Red, whose track "Your Little Suburbia Is In Ruins" is tighter, heavier and more technical than any other on this compilation. A remarkable show of controlled musicianship. The videos themselves, it has to be said, are rather generic to the metal genre, with the exception of "Writing On The Walls" by Underoath. In their defence, this is not an isolated problem, neither is it limited to the CCM industry. Please someone bring us some genuine creativity when planning the next vid shoot. Another thing this DVD could benefit from is diversity and a considerable increase in productivity, as this DVD only contains 11 tracks in contrast to the mammoth 20 on the recent Tooth & Nail compilation, which incidentally also features Underoath's "Writing On The Walls". For my money I would expect more than this DVD delivers.
