I do not know what volumes one and two are like but three is lovely, spoilt only by the fact that the last of the 20 hymns is "Hark The Herald Angels Sing". Why, Kingsway? I know one should not associate this song just with Christmas but I am sure most of us do. Otherwise the classic hymns here follow wonderfully from one to the other, and the children and I had a brilliant time singing these, especially "Shall We Gather At The River?", "0 God Our Help In Ages Past" and "Onward March, All-conquering Jesus". Not exactly what I would expect the average Cross Rhythms reader to go out and buy for him/herself but a wonderful present for an older church going friend or relative.
