Reviewed by Ian Webber Comprising of five substantial volumes, this benefit compilation combines a huge selection of artists from the Thumper Punk and SkyBurnsBlack Records roster. Broken down by genre, there are well over 100 different acts featured, representing punk, hardcore and metal. Acts such as False Idle, True Liberty and The Hoax are included along with more metal orientated groups such as Kings & Daughters and Pantokrator, the mix working surprisingly well. The most enjoyable tracks are found on the two punk influenced volumes which kick off in bombastic style with the fitting "Let's Skate" (all proceeds are going to support two skateboarding ministries). In contrast to other Thumper Punk recordings, the audio quality is surprisingly full and has a classy feel though there are a few tracks where production is a little rougher, such as CPR's "Friend Of Mine", but these do not spoil the energy or flow of the music. The hardcore tracks on offer are full of crushing breakdowns and maniacal drumming with lyrics that are uncompromisingly blunt. The artists featured represent over 10 countries, with songs in English, German, Portuguese and Spanish which also reflects the variety on offer. The last two CDs are more metal influenced and growl and grunt in pleasantly rhythmical fashion. Some orchestral metal also makes an appearance in the form of "Ceremonial Sacred" by The Man From Nazareth, topping off what is a truly eclectic mix. There is definitely too much material here for a single listen and I would envisage that anyone interested in sampling this compilation will buy a single volume. It is, however, an excellent way to discover a range of lesser known acts in a cost effective way.
