There seem to be two options for CCM video, both found in this collection. First maybe just keep it simple, with the lyric the main thing. Joanna Carlson tries this and succeeds pretty well without pulling you to the edge of your seat. But hey, why should she? Alternatively, let some extra visual creativity loose. Michael W Smith shows that this can be done well and his is the best of the collection with "Cry For Love". The key is concentrating on images (standing on the edge of a skyscraper, crowds reaching out from the rooftops) that suggest what it is to really cry for love. The others, Rich Mullins, Kathy Troccoli, Clay Crosse, Caroline Adams, Church Of Rhythm and Wes King fall somewhere in between the two approaches but none fail to look professional. Remembering we get 80 per cent of our information visually we could expect to understand a bit more about the people behind the words and voices. This I did feel even within the limitations of a promo. So who should buy it? Most obviously any fans of several of these artists but also anyone who could use high quality music video with words that mean something such as for a warm up for a guest event.
