Reviewed by Anthony Longville Small groups are often missed in terms of CD resources, as often those that exist are designed for congregations or are geared around the many large events such as Spring Harvest or Soul Survivor. This large collection of discs offers 180 songs along with a CD-Rom with song words, all at extremely good value. The songs themselves are not the high profile recordings, for example Matt Redman does not sing "When The Music Fades" but the version is a perfectly good one from Kingsway's back catalogue. All tracks contain vocals, offering "the comfort factor" when only a few are meeting, but do not expect the latest worship songs on 'Worship For Small Groups' as the material here was largely written in the '70s, '80s and '90s. Examples include "Open Your Eyes", "Praise Him On The Trumpet" and "Faithful God". Present here are leading songwriters such as Graham Kendrick, Andy Park, Noel Richards, Stuart Townend and Chris Bowater amongst others. A minor misgiving is the inclusion of some children's songs, such as "If I Were A Butterfly" and "Who Put The Colours In The Rainbow" which seem out of place and lacking, in comparison to the many excellent children's worship albums in the market place. Overall, this is a reasonable, value-for-money resource.
