Another month, another worship compilation! This one, released by Kingsway Music, contains 50 "pure gold worship classics", or at least that is what the box says. It is hard to distinguish what makes a worship song a classic, perhaps it is one which has been widely sung in churches around the world or perhaps it is one that has appeared on a zillion compilations already, either way I find it hard to see how record labels can continuously justify flogging the same old songs month in and month out under a different title! Unsurprisingly, as the title suggests, there are a whole host of familiar songs spread across three CDs in this collection, such as "My Jesus My Saviour", "Light Of The World" and "We Want To See Jesus Lifted High" and these are augmented with a few "newer classics" such as "Facedown" and "Beautiful One". No artist credits of course and the older songs now sound distinctly dated in arrangement. But if your collection is not already saturated with similar cheap 'n' cheerful compilations, then this as good as any.
