A well established franchise back for 2006, and all the usual suspects are present and correct - Kutless, TobyMac, Relient K, Third Day, Thousand Foot Krutch, Sanctus Real. With a few exceptions, like X perennials Third Day (represented here with "Falling to Pieces"), the compilation leans towards the heavier end of Christian rock. It's a bit of a strange blend. Underoath's ominously titled "It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door" combines thrash vocals with choral counterpoints, with mixed results. Right on it's heels comes KJ-52's "Run For Cover". It's rap/rock reminded me of Sugar Ray, and it's hard to imagine many people liking both. Or at least, not back to back. It's also a shame that there are no UK bands in the collection. But this is still a useful compilation and a helpful reminder of some of the US acts rocking 2006. It's packed with energy and passion, and how can you not smile at TobyMac's promise to "bring it like it ain't be brung" on "The Slam"?
