Advertised on the web as "21 solid Christian smash hits" and "for sure the quintessential album for those that love Christian rock music with the best that Christian rock has to offer," X2007 brings largely the same collection of US rock recording artist together as it did for the 2006 offering for the fifth annual recording. The brightest and best in the current Christian rock scene, ranging from the lighter fare of Newsboys and Jeremy Camp, to the pop punk of Hawk Nelson and Relient K, all the way to the hardcore of Underoath and Demon Hunter. As well as the 17 tracks proper, there are four "bonus tracks", a meaningless phrase in this context but it does give you the chance to hear up and coming acts Last Tuesday, Future Of Forestry, House Of Heroes and Run Kid Run. Some notable absentees from the line-up leave this album missing a certain something. This CD certainly serves to give the listener an insight to what is happening Stateside in the Christian rock scene though a little more imagination in the compilation would have helped no end.
