River Of Life: The Sound Of Black Gospel In America

I'm 62 years old and I met and listened to Rev. Maceo Woods play the organ in Tulsa, Oklahoma over 40 years ago. Black music and even gospel music have come a long ways. You mentioned you couldn't hear words because of the loud music - well, on the flip side of hip/hop you can't hear the words - just beats and rhythm. The gospel feeling, whether old time, church stumping gospel or contemporary gospel still has its way of pulling old and young generations together. Sometimes, it may be the beat, the sound of the music that touches a person's heart to God, even if she/he doesn't hear all the words to the song. They will probably say, "I can feel God's presence in the atmosphere! Thank you.
