Christianophobia - Alive And Well In Britain? Mark Pritchard MP Debates In Parliament

I have come across this problem so often... people objecting to what they percieve as Christianity, based on a caricature largely created by humanists. They think we believe in a cantankerous old man in the sky, who sits back and watches while millions suffer, and that we seek to impose our beliefs and judgements on others because we think we're better than them. Nothing could be further from the truth. The singling-out of Christians as a target for ridicule, seems to be widespread in entertainment, management and the media. Who is doing this, and why? Recent cases come to mind of Nativity scenes being banned from shop-windows, and staff being banned from wearing crosses. They do offend a minority of people - just so few that I've never spoken with anyone who held this view. There's a major problem with the policy of not offending minorities. Here are some illustrations; i) Why isn't the Theory of Evolution banned from being taught in our schools? It's offensive to Creationists like me. ii) How about teaching that the Earth is round? That could be offensive to members of The Flat Earth Society. iii) The whole legal system could be seen as offensive to anarchists. Should we abolish it? How far does it go? How do you define a minority? How do you define offense? And most of all, why are those not in a minority not being protected or listened to? Modern TV dramas depict Christians as comical and ineffectual wimps, morally corrupt or destructively fanatical. It's all a far cry from the Faith which forms the basis of our legal system, led to the abolition of slavery, and inspired the Welfare State.
