Comment:
I simply cannot let the comment about Pete Shirley's voice go unchallenged. From a "muggy" 4 tracks Mike Rimmer concludes that Pete is not blessed with a brilliant voice. I first saw Pete Shirley 13 years ago at The Leek Folk Festival and have seen him play some 20-30 times since. I have his two folk albums and many recordings of him singing at live events. More importantly I have in my head memories of some wonderful riveting performances of his own powerful songs. Pete Shirley has one of the most memorable and original voices ever to have graced the Potteries Folk Scene.
