Comment: And to Pastor Dickson, with all due honor and respect to you sir, but your scripture reference is wrong. Hebrews 13:5-6 tell us that "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." And God does not punish, He does discipline, though. Punishment involves "an authorized imposition of deprivations — of freedom or privacy or other goods to which the person otherwise has a right, or the imposition of special burdens — because the person has been found guilty of some criminal violation, typically (though not invariably) involving harm to the innocent." Now because we have a right standing with the Father because of Jesus, God cannot deprive us of that life He has given us. But He will discipline us. Discipline refers to "methods of modeling character and of teaching self-control and acceptable behavior." You DO NOT need to take away a person's rights in order to teach them self-control.
