Many thanx to Crossrhythms staff for adding this classic album to this list. This is probably the oldest gospel album I have besides Elvis' gospel: And better yet, my copy is in red vinyl . What a sound of harmony graced the radio in the 50's. With the release of this album, the quartet has been singing for a good 10 years . The album title starts off side 1 of the album: The less than 2 minutes of good clapper "This Old House" is a fave I love. "GOD Made A Way" is commendable, just listen to those bass vocals of London Parris. The recitations of member John Mathews on "Supper Time" & "LORD, Build Me A Cabin"are just wonderful; John was manager of the group at the time. John Mathews continued his recording of songs of recitation throughout his singing career; even with his family in the 70's (I was blessed to see them in concert in late 70's). John & his family did a recording of the late great Johnny Cash's "The Old Ragged Flag"; great rendition. A great hymn classic of "Farther Along" is heard on this album; London Parris' bass vocals stand out wonderful on the song! We lost baritone John Mathews on August 1, 2005; and bass vocalist London Parris in September of 1992: oh what Heavenly music is heard o'er yonder: Horace Parrish & pianist Jimmy Taylor are the only remaining members to date. I have no doubt that Bill Gaither appreciated this quartet & praised them highly! If you were reared in anything similar to the mennonite faith, you would certainly enjoy this quartet. GOD Bless! - Don
