Comment: Never heard of Kent Henry considered as MOR / soft pop before. Kent was a worship leader at the very epicentre of the praise and worship revolution that issued out of St. Louis Missouri in the mid-1970s, pre-dating the arrival of Tom Brooks' (who launched Integrity/Hosanna) arrival at "New Covenant Fellowship". Kent has an extravagant approach to worship leading, and his musical style is s strongly influenced by the blues. To witness him improvising with the worship band back then with lead guitarist Charlie LeBlanc and Larry Mintz on percussion was truly amazing. Not one to go for over-produced orchestrations, his style may have mellowed slightly over the years, but not his enthusiasm and total sold-out approach to Jesus. He still runs a music academy and mentors young musicians. Together with his free-flowing style, his ability to pastor the next generation of worship leaders is truly his greatest strength. - John E.
