Good grief. Mr Moore has come out of the woodwork - this is such an honour to have a REAL Glorylander posting comments. Don't give us the 'minor member' and 'I can't spell' routines Ian - like saying you can't play piano or guitar. 'About Time' you did another re-formation in my opinion. I asked Bill if he had any 'live' CD's left - he says he's down to his last 4000!

Just a small update. I bumped into Bill Simmons a few weeks ago and mentioned that there was a bit of a thread on The Glorylanders running on the site. he was, of course, very interested to hear about it. You never know, we may get to hear from an original Glorylander yet!!

I've looked back today and its been great reading these memoriesof the past. At the time (late 60s early 70s) I was a young Christai and we so much enjoyed playing and singing these songs by the Glorylanders and Youth Praise (YP No 1 was my favourite) - No 34 - Can it be True - any one remember that one? I also remeber an amazing song by, I think, Ami Mcdonnald - Through my Days. Not sure what happened to her? Now a old Christain, I still play the gutiat and some times just have an hour of playing the songs of my youth.

I've had a look and realised the song was by JUDY MACKENZIE-DUNN. Great song indeed!

Just been doing an Itunes search for Christian music/videos and I thought that I might see if the Glorylanders might just be there. No luck as I rather thought! My brother introduced me to their music before I became a Christian in the 1970's and that fact that I play a 12-string acoustic is testament to how much I liked their music.I sang (very badly) "If ever there was just one day" at my sister's wedding reception: that was one of my favourites. I have somewhere a duplicated cassette tape of some of the G's music.I must see if I can track it down. I also liked Stewart & Kyle music. Whatevr became of them I wonder? They were based in Northern Ireland.

Well, this is really interesting. I was on ebay and I thought I would explore if there were any Glorylanders records in existence these days, and that led me on to where I am now. You see, many years ago I came upon the Glorylanders in the Isle of Man when on holiday there, and subsequently wrote a song for them, which they recorded (Never Shall Go Back). It would seem to be preserved on one of their records, which makes me feel quite nostalgic. In my opinion, they were very talented, and I agree that the guitar intro to 'If Ever.....' is really neat and catchy and original. Thank you for your info about where they are today.

'I never shall go back' was certainly one of my favourite Glorylanders songs - nice to hear from the person who wrote it. Next time I bump into Bill Simmons I'll try to remind him of your comment. I know that after they'd pretty well finished playing regularly in the UK they were still very much in demand in Germany where they had a great following and they did produce a 'live' recording (I think on CD). Having recently seen Peter, Paul & Mary on BBC4 doing a live concert for the Beeb years ago I was reminded that The Glorylanders used a lot of the same material and had the same close harmonies. Oh and a little know fact - Arthur Pemberton's cat once swallowed one of my guitar pegs while Arthur was teaching me a few chords. Fame eh!!

Hi
I was very much into christian music and the christian coffee bar era. I saw the Glorylanders a few times at Cliff College, but could never persuade them to come down to our coffee bar. I really liked their sound and we often sang their songs (Youth Praise) in our Sunday Youth Fellowship. I'm always interested to know what happenned to these people. I was involved a little bit with the Advocates, remember them?

My wife used to sing their songs is a group before I met her, after I met here I also sang and played their music. My favourite was always "If ever their was just one day" with a great guitar intro. Infact the guitar playing was got me to start on the guitar. I still have the originak 45s of their great music. Where are they now???

Hi Peter, its a while since you posted 'whatever happened to the Glorylanders' but I can tell you that Bill Simmons (bass player) and Ian Moore (guitar and usually 2nd vocals) live in North Manchester area. I still see Bill (now retired) occasionally. I know Arthur Pemberton was living in the Midlands some years ago - Arthur taught me a few chords when I was learning guitar. The SECC that's shown on their record sleeves refers to Simmmons Electrical Contracting Co. which is where Bill and Arthur worked. Ian was a fine musician and although we really only heard him play guitar on Glorylanders he was a very accomplished pianist and was nicknamed 'Mozart'. My teenage years were full of Glorylanders music.
