Mainstream country hitmakers Alabama return with Christian album

ONE OF THE biggest acts in mainstream country music, Alabama have made the surprise decision to record an album of traditional hymns and Christian songs. 'Alabama: Songs Of Inspiration' is the group's first new album in over five years and contains such songs as "Rock Of Ages", "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Bluegrass giant Ralph Stanley contributes vocals on the song "I Am The Man Thomas" while Southern gospel hitmakers The Isaacs guest on "I Need Thee". Said Alabama's frontman Randy Owen, "Recording this album has been an emotional journey and it's one I'm proud we took. I hope people feel like they're going to church when they listen to these songs. Music is a great healer and a great comfort and I think that's what these songs are. This music is for the folks - this is for all God's people." CR
