THE UNIVERSITY Of Chicago Press have published a study of blues and gospel singer Rev Gary Davis. Say No To The Devil: The Life And Music Genius Of Rev Gary Davis by Ian Zack has already received rave reviews. Wrote Red Lick catalogue, "The first full length biography of a magisterial singer, songwriter and guitarist taking us from his difficult beginnings as a blind son of a sharecropper in the divided Southern states up until his later years in New York where he became a pivotal figure [in the emerging folk world]." CR
