Streamwaves and EMI Christian Music Group launch subscription service

STREAMWAVES, a Dallas-based streaming media company, and EMI Christian Music Group have announced the launch of the first major label sponsored music subscription service, HigherWaves.com. The fully licensed gospel and Christian music service provides monthly subscribers unlimited access to thousands of songs in different musical genres, including artists Audio Adrenaline; Avalon; Steven Curtis Chapman; dc Talk; Delirious?; Jennifer Knapp, Newsboys; Supertones; CeCe Winans and others.

The service will give subscribers the ability to listen to entire CDs, create their own playlists using an internet browser or have a playlist created for them. Subscribers of HigherWaves.com will continually have access to regularly updated music selections at no additional charge. Record labels participating during the launch include Sparrow, ForeFront, EMI Gospel, 5 Minute Walk, Flicker and Gotee. "Focusing on Christian and gospel music was the right choice for us to start with because of its size and dramatic growth," said Jeff Tribble, Streamwaves' Chief Executive Officer. "Christian music is one of the fastest growing markets in America, reaching nearly 70% the size of country music. EMI CMG was the first company that cleared publishing and masters for our technology and is the marketplace leader with a 40.6% share of the Christian music industry. This is the perfect way to launch HigherWaves.com."
