Cross Rhythms to launch Christian music chart
CHRISTIAN music in Britain is to have its first fully comprehensive charts. Organised and compiled by Cross Rhythms magazine, the charts will take in information from Christian bookstores, specialist radio shows and record companies.
Said Cross Rhythms publishing editor, Chris Cole: 'The time has come for charts indicating sales and radio play for contemporary Christian music in Britain. As well as this a chart service is needed for praise and worship, black gospel and indie/alternative music. Sales in the UK are still relatively small but broadcasters and the public need to see what is available and what is popular."
The four different charts will be published in future issues of Cross
Rhythms, commencing with CR 11. Cross Rhythms will also be faxing
their charts to selected radio stations throughout the UK giving
religious broadcasters the first comprehensive chart service. Says
Cole: "Our charts will be another way in which Cross Rhythms is
working to stimulate interest and support for Christian music ministry
in Britain."
