First time coverage for festival

THE RECENT Cross Rhythms Roots & Branches music festival at Dudley Castle has been televised by the Christian Channel Europe - the first time that the station has covered a festival of any kind.

CMTV presenter Jennifer Hughes, who used to work on Channel Four's The Big Breakfast, interviewed many of the bands and artists taking part, including Viola, Chris Lizotte, After The Fall and S'dANCE. Other people interviewed for two CMTV programmes filmed at the festival were CEO Chris Cole, magazine editor Tony Cummings and Cross Rhythms Prayer Co-ordinator and Roots & Branches administrator Les Wilkes. The footage was used to make two half-hour CMTV programmes which were shown in October and November. After the event Jennifer Hughes commented, "It was an extremely well organised weekend and the presence of the Holy Spirit could really be felt." The Christian Channel Europe, operated by the Angel Christian Television Trust, has been on air via satellite and cable for over a year. Britain's second Christian television channel, ARK2, were also at the festival filming many of the artists' sets for transmission when they begin broadcasting in 1997.
