David Evans, Normal Generation, Escapade for Cross Rhythms Festival

THE CROSS RHYTHMS Festival, now in its 11th year, has announced a new time frame for its weekend of music and ministry. The 2001 festival, entitled Breakthrough, will run from 4pm Friday 20th July to Sunday midnight, 22nd July. Explained festival administrator Jonathan Bellamy, "The change is in response to recognising that many people were only able to arrive on site on the Friday tea time and were missing a large part of the weekend's activities. Expanding the festival into all day Sunday will also give us three nights to maximise their experience of the festival weekend."
Those so far announced to appear for the 2001 event, to be held at Okehampton, Devon, are: - Germany's top pop dance team Normal Generation?; renowned Australian Bible teacher Mal Fletcher; young Irish rock praise man Johnny Parks (tbc); Australian prophet musician David Evans; alternative rock band Escapade; sanctified dance ministry The Called; South African ministry couple Louis and Edna Ells; and USA-based Bible teacher Tony Fitzgerald.
Speaking about the vision for the Breakthrough event, Jonathan Bellamy said, "If you look at the wineskin of an emerging generation you will see an extravagant abandonment to God. They hurtle down the highest rollercoasters, launch themselves off waterfalls, bungee drop off bridges, drink till they drop and party all night. When this natural wineskin connects to the Spirit of God that same reckless abandon becomes an impassioned David-heartcry of worship and praise to God. Totally committed Kamikaze Christians who can actually change our world. It's not an age thing, it's an attitude and this is the Breakthrough generation we want to inspire at the festival in 2001." CR
