THE 50th ANNUAL Grammy Awards, held at the Staples Center, Los Angeles on 10th February, brought forth some awards for Christian performers. These were:
Best Country Album: Vince Gill, 'These Days' (MCA Nashville); Best Gospel Performance: (Tie) The Clark Sisters, "Blessed & Highly Favored" from 'Live: One Last Time' (EMI Gospel) and Aretha Franklin & Mary J Blige (featuring The Harlem Boys Choir), "Never Gonna Break My Faith" from 'Bobby: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack' (Island Def Jam); Best Gospel Song: The Clark Sisters, "Blessed & Highly Favored" from 'Live: One Last Time' (composer Karen Clark-Sheard) (EMI Gospel); Best Rock Or Rap Gospel Album: Ashley Cleveland, 'Before The Daylight's Shot' (204 Records); Best Southern, Country Or Bluegrass Gospel Album: Ricky Skaggs & The Whites, 'Salt Of The Earth' (Skaggs Family Records); Best Traditional Gospel Album: The Clark Sisters, 'Live: One Last Time' (EMI Gospel); Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album: Fred Hammond, 'Free To Worship' (Verity); Best Traditional World Music Album: Soweto Gospel Choir, 'African Spirit' (Shanachie Entertainment); and Best Short Form Music Video: Johnny Cash/Tony Kaye (director)/Rachel Curl (producer) "God's Gonna Cut You Down" (American Records/Lost Highway Records). CR
