Viva Art Music Europe and The Cobham Agency cease trading

IN A DOUBLE blow to Christian concert promotion in the UK both Viva Art Music Europe and The Cobham Agency have ceased trading.
Concert and tour promoters Viva Art Music Europe, based in Northampton, was set up by experienced CCM executive Jerry Johnson in 1994 and has specialised in bringing over to the UK several of America's top CCM artists. But heavy financial losses, particularly with the Steve Taylor/Guardian tour, has forced Viva Art Music Europe to close. Jerry Johnson was not available for comment.

The Leeds-based Cobham Agency, formed in 1991 by Tim Cobham, has concentrated on obtaining bookings for grassroots British CCM artists. Said Tim Cobham, "The finances have been a major concern for the whole time of the Agency and both my pastoral support team and I had to lay the whole thing down before the Lord. We gave a deadline of April this year and I've had a decent run at things, but now have to just accept that the area I enjoy working in can not be financially viable."
