City-wide mission due to hit Liverpool in August.

A HUGE initiative aimed at taking the Gospel to the city of Liverpool is set to take place from 14th to 21st August. Merseyfest is described as "a means of bringing together Christian churches, people of good will, public services and private enterprise to work on the common goal of a better, kinder, more caring and more sustainable community." The initiative will see thousands of young adults converging on Liverpool for a week of music, festivities and mission. They will link up with thousands of local people working on hundreds of projects of kindness across the region. Said a spokesperson, "The week will culminate with a free-to-enter festival in Croxteth Park with the best music, speakers, dance bands and numerous other acts. Anyone familiar with the work already done by the thousands of volunteers who took part in Festival: Manchester (summer 2003) and Soul In The City (summer 2004) will have a good idea as to what Merseyfest is all about. In 2005 it's Merseyside's turn to host the UK's biggest urban outreach event." For more information visit www.merseyfest.com. CR
