Bernie Leadon forms a new major US label

FORMER member of the Eagles Bernie Leadon, who has been a Christian for nearly 20 years, has helped set up a new major record label in the USA under the auspices of Pioneer Music Group (the hi-fi company). The CEO of the label is Charlie Lico who used to manage Koinonia. The label will be aimed at the mainstream market though two of their four initial signings are Christians. The first signing is CeCe Winans. She will be recording an R&B-orientated album for release in the first quarter of 1998 in an attempt to establish herself outside of the Christian marketplace. Work on the album has begun and so far seven big name producers have been used. The second artist is Mancy A'lan Kane, a newcomer who has been touring and writing with Jars Of Clay. She is a committed Christian and will be recording songs, which will appeal to both a Christian audience and beyond. CR
