Owners of Kingsway Music, David C Cook, make big headway in US

A NEWS story in American trade magazine Christian Retailing recently documented the phenomenal growth of Colorado Springs-based book and music company David C Cook. The article read, "Shrugging off the impact of a continuing dismal economy, David C Cook recently announced that its book sales increased by more than 65 per cent last year. Cook recently launched a North American music division of Britain's Kingsway Music. While the UK division will remain in Eastbourne, the new North American office opened in Colorado Springs in March. Steve Nicolle, director of music and media at David C Cook Distribution Canada, will head up the Kingsway division, which was developed 'to more effectively serve the North American Church,' a company official said."

Said Nicolle, "Bringing worship music into our publishing mix fits very well with David C Cook's corporate vision of equipping the Church worldwide. It enables us to incorporate excellent music to our already strong curriculum lines and bring a whole new dimension of resources to the Church. While many of our songwriters have not toured North America, their songs have travelled. Directly overseeing and investing in our work in North America means that we can bring these top notch songwriters themselves to the forefront, so that both the songwriters and their songs are recognisable in churches." CR
