Deceased Sly Stone's the Stewart Four single chronicled

THE EARLY Years of recently deceased Sly Stone are mentioned in the cover story about the musical giant in the August issue of Record Collector. The article, by Kris Needs, also charts the psychedelic soul star's decades-long abuse of cocaine. Sly began his recording career as a member of the family group the Stewart Four who in 1956 released in California's Bay Area the 78 rpm single "On The Battlefield/Walking In Jesus Name". CR
