Deceased Sly Stone's the Stewart Four single chronicled
THE EARLY Years of recently deceased Sly Stone are mentioned in the
cover story about the musical giant in the August issue of Record
Collector. The article, by Kris Needs, also charts the psychedelic
soul star's decades-long abuse of cocaine. Sly began his recording
career as a member of the family group the Stewart Four who in 1956
released in California's Bay Area the 78 rpm single "On The
Battlefield/Walking In Jesus Name".
