FRONTMAN Robert McKee, of popular Scottish band Hallelujah Square, died while on a diving trip in Scotland.

McKee, who was 26 years old, was a larger-than-life character who brought a real sense of fun to everything that he did - his life and his music testified to the incredible zeal and joy that poured out of the man himself. Robert was involved in just about every area of church life that you could imagine: mission, worship, youthwork and the arts. Even at his funeral Robert managed to unite Catholics and Protestants as well as joining the more conservative wing of the church with the radical, a fitting tribute to the kind of life and work that he carried out during his years with us. It's hard to imagine the Scottish CCM scene without him (he was just as enthusiastic as an audience member as he was on stage), and although his loss has left so many of us stunned and with the usual question "Why?", we can at least give thanks for Robert McKee's contribution not only to CCM but to the injection of life that he brought to everything and everyone he came in contact with. Members of just about every Christian band in Scotland attended McKee's funeral in the small Ayrshire town of Stewarton.

Mr Mckee is such an amazing light and was loved at Earnoch high. I managed to recieve a copy of his music on tape and still have it to this day. I have just recently been gifted a cassette player and all i ever think about when someone mentions cassettes is mr mckee's. It has always touched me and now even more so as ive went the spiritual path over the years and it was the first cassette i ran to when i got home with the player. The joy, comfort and happiness this tape has brought is timeless. I love and will always love xx

Like Brian, I too have just stumbled upon this article. I agree wholeheartedly with everything herein. Robert was not only a very well known face and voice in the Christian music scene, but was also a very well know, loved and respected face within his local community. He touched the lives and hearts of so many people and inspired us (myself too) to be the best person we can be.

First time I've ever seen this article and it describes Robert perfectly. My brother loved his music and would be happy that he left such a positive mark on the people he met during his short life. Brian.
