The Newsboys, Delirious?, Chris Eaton to play Alliance Festival

THE BIGGEST one day Christian music event in Britain, the Alliance Festival takes place in the Sheffield Arena on October 25th. American CCM star Steven Curtis Chapman has had to pull out of the event because of "increased domestic pressures". Alliance's marketing director David Withers said, "This is obviously a blow.

Steven is very popular and we know many were looking forward to seeing him for the first time. Nevertheless, we have already contracted Chris Eaton with his band and are examining another possible surprise. The final bill will still be incredible."

The Newsboys will headline appearing alongside Delirious?, World Wide Message Tribe (who will premier their new album 'Heatseeker'), Chris Eaton, Sarah Jahn and Raze. The special guest is Steve Chalke with MC Duncan Banks. The production for the day promises to be spectacular with multi-screen video along with a world-class sound and light system. David Bruce, A&R director, said, "Last year we received a great response to the quality of the production. This year it's to be stepped up. We are adding two more cameras for the live video broadcast along with a further two huge screens.

Other production changes will remain a secret until the day but they will be a lot of fun."

Last year 7,000 attended the seven and a half hour event in the Nynex Arena in Manchester. Bookings this year are ahead of 1996 and the total capacity is increased to over 10,000.
