The Newsboys, Superchick, Rock 'n' Roll Worship Circus all for this year's Alton Towers event.

THE ANNUAL one-day Christian music concert held at the Alton Towers theme park, the Ultimate Event, will take place on Saturday 14th May. Booked to appear at this year's event are Nashville-based pop rockers the Newsboys, pop-with-bite team Superchick, America's retro rock band the Rock 'n' Roll Worship Circus and Britain's highly praised rock team Supervision. The latter were the winners in 2004 of the Ultimate Showcase talent search, a part of the prize for which is an appearance at the Ultimate Event. Due to Supervision's on-going popularity they've been invited back this year.

Last year's Ultimate Event attracted a crowd of 12,000. Said event organiser Billy Ritchie, "Judging by the feedback our 10th Anniversary bash was a huge success. We've had reports from all over the UK of young people committing their lives to God for the first time and so many seem to have been challenged by Rebecca St James's message of sexual purity. But we did have our disappointments. For that size of crowd the sound and visuals simply weren't up to the job. We realise that this is our ultimate responsibility and so our commitment this year - to all our event goers both old and new - is to create a show that lives up to our name: the Ultimate Event. Our sound system is being designed specifically to ensure clarity wherever you choose to stand and if you do happen to be at the back of our 12,000 crowd then our two large video screens will mean that you won't miss a thing." A 40 ft by 40 ft stage, huge video screens and a flown PA with flying relays will all be used at the 2005 event. CR
