Word Records approaching mainstream record retailers in Britain

SINCE July, Word Records have been sending representatives with their record product into the main 'chain' record shops in the UK, and describe retailers' response as encouraging. Head of A&R Dave Bruce states that "at first they were very cynical - but since we've been picking up sales on the more cross-over acts we approached them with initially, they've been much more open to a wider selection of our catalogue."

Main areas of sale have been Metal, Black Gospel and Amy Grant's back catalogue. The company are also exploring the possibility of licensing product to mainstream labels to improve their penetration of the secular marketplace. CR
