In an increasingly saturated market, Christian hip-hop artists must produce stand out content in order to be noticed. Sadly, there's very little on this free mixtape from a San Antonio-based rapper to turn heads. There's even the occasional moment where you just want to turn the album off. For example, halfway through "My Sword Finger" an effect has been used that makes the CD sound scratched. Far from being innovative or cool, it's messy and grates on the ears of the listener. Clocking in at almost one hour long, the album does contain the occasional song worth listening to. "Double Edge" has a great backing as 7vnseal raps part of his testimony and borrows lyrics from classic hymn "Amazing Grace". There's no doubt the rapper oozes passion in his music and lyrics, and his messages of fighting spiritual battles and worshipping Jesus are crystal clear throughout the recording. There are also some interesting collaborations with other hip-hop artists and singers, which add good depth. If you're looking for something a little more grimy and raw than the average hip-hop album, this recording may appeal to you. But most of what you hear on 'Keep My Boots. . .' lacks creativity.
