First off, since readers often find useful comparisons with well known bands, these guys sound rather like God Forbid. So, if that floats your boat, this four-piece hardcore band from Murfeesboro, Tennesee could be for you. However, there is more to A Plea For Purging than crushing breeze-block riffage and backing crowd shout-along breakdowns. The guitar work on display is comprehensively impressive, with plenty of tappity-tap-tapping and almost pretty dual guitar work. A Plea For Purging also inject some unusual, completely unexpected and unfortunately weird moments into a few of the tracks which qualify as the only downers on an otherwise interesting and challenging first record. However, when they avoid this temptation and hit the bullseye, such as on "Everything And Nothing" with its atmospheric bridge section, or the crowd pleasing "While The Sparrow Sleeps", they are a thoroughly raucous and enjoyable listen. With impressive demo tracks already up on their Myspace, we can hope for good things from this band.
