Franklin-based worship leaders Leslie Jordan and David Leonard describe their new album as "an honest representation of our brokenness and humanity, guided by God's goodness and redemption" and - as you would expect from such a mission statement - it contains more light and shade than your bog standard worship release. In terms of musical approach, Jordan and Leonard are never afraid to be experimental whilst the blending of their vocals adds weight to Worship Leader magazine's subjective claim that they are "the most enchanting sound emerging from the worship scene." The duo are at their best when in contemplative mood and the thought-provoking "Reason To Sing" expertly charts the struggles of faith whilst employing an incredibly effective slow build technique that also features in songs such as "All Praise To You" and "Buried In The Grave". Elsewhere, this solemnity is balanced by more celebratory and anthemic numbers like "All The Poor And Powerless" and "I Am Set Free" - all of which gives off an air of creative maturity and spiritual depth. Also included is a bonus DVD which sees the delightfully pouty couple expound "Reason To Sing", "Buried In The Grave" and "Wake Up" over a cup of herbal tea whilst offering up intimate live performances of said songs to add even more value to an already fulfilling package.
