Anawim are Rebecca Peene, Matthew Concannon and Alison Kennedy, who are part of Watermead Apostolate at St Josephs, Leicester. The name is Hebrew for "God's little ones", as in Zepheniah 2:3. Their music is clearly born out of the liturgy and worship of St Josephs, and anyone familiar with Anglican and Catholic liturgy will readily relate many of these hymns and songs to key points in the Sunday worship, from "Blessings" and "A Rose For Mary" to "Our Father" and the Eucharistic "Here Is My Body" and "Pax Christi". If you are looking for inspiration and new music which will blend sensitively with traditional services, both old and modern, this album is well worth listening to.
