Andi is Andy Oakes from Lurgan Elim Church, Northern Ireland, and this, which I presume is his debut, is a pretty good selection of pop rock songs largely based on Scripture. Apart from “I Like It Here” when guest vocalist Suzanne McShane steps up to the mic, Andi sings in a pleasant lilting manner and, as on his take on Psalm 28, verse 1, “Need 2 Here”, the lilting sound could almost be something from America’s West Coast soft rock era, while “Sand-Dance” has a gentle reggae rhythm. Maybe not the most electrifying album you’ve ever heard, but there’s no doubting Andi’s solid musicianship and the heart for ministry ‘Whisper’ exudes.
