Angelo Luster is a native of Edwin Hawkins country, Oakland, California to be precise, and his chosen instrument is the saxophone. To make a terrible pun on the American spelling of his name, he adds plenty of lustre to his performance on this, his first album. The majority of the material is the work of Angelo and his producer, pianist, keyboardist and programmer Robert Anderson, although Andrae Crouch's "To God Be The Glory" makes an appearance, and whilst it's predominantly instrumental, there are a couple of vocal tracks. The style throughout is cool and laid back, with plenty of elbow room for Angelo to demonstrate his technique. Worth a look if jazz-gospel fusion in the Kirk Whalum mould floats your boat.
