From the initial pounding drums and menace of the opening bars of this offering from the Texas-based metalcore outfit, you are subjected to a full frontal audio assault. Chugging guitars feature throughout this ambitious concept album which seeks to document the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler and is full of immense sounds, rasping vocals and gang choruses. BTWR leave you in no doubt as to their purpose, openly describing themselves as ministry first and band second. "The Architect" opens the 11 tracks and describes how humankind has turned its back on God. By the end of the album however, a picture of worship is painted in "The Prophet" as Carlos Salazar chews his way through "This world means nothing without Christ at the crown/Oh how I'd hate to think about everything I'd be without Grace upon the cross/I can sing of your love forever." Although the opening cuts on this recording seem a little laboured rather than driven, I was drawn into the music as the album progressed. The addition of some clean vocals by guitarist Jeremy Werts counterpoints the lead growls with good effect. Variety in the guitar solos also improves, providing more interest. Sounding in many ways similar to Norma Jean, BTWR are not particularly experimental, but in 'The Furher', they have produced an impressive set of songs.
