This is an album that grows and grows on you. Having said that, it's a pretty good first time listen too. Brian Fuller is a new name. In December 1991 Brian left his band of eight years, Upfront, to go solo. Rather than wait around forever for a record deal he's cut a fine debut featuring a range of musical styles: from slow ballads to up tempo pop and even a credible cover of Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground". Brian has recognised Bryan Duncan, Michael English, Richard Marx as vocal influences - in other words he's a pretty funky white boy. Excellent songwriting, good arrangements and a thoroughly recommended album that stunningly transcends not having a fat recording budget. I predict it won't be too long before the name Brian Fuller is widely recognised. American pop gospel rules!
