The fourth volume in the series of releases by California-based producers Jerad Atherton and Josh Auer - stage name CHPTRS - showcases the pair's innate songwriting and production skills with five original songs which employ cinematic soundscapes and enigmatic lyricism to great effect. The guys kick things off with some EDM-based pop on "Stay With Me" and "Shadows" before the wistful cello-led "If I Could" shows a more stripped back acoustic approach. Atherton and Auer's ethereal vocals intertwine perfectly and, together with an inventively organic musical backdrop, this makes for a collection of tunes which draw the listener in. A selection of acoustic and alternate versions pad this release out and show a different side to these already fine songs.
