This CD looks stunning before you even hear it, thanks to Mary Fleeson's artwork for the Lindisfarne Scriptorium. And on first play, it doesn't disappoint, creating an ambience of sweetness - unforced folk vocals from Heather Innes and Jacinth Hamill and often traditional melodies, most with gentle Celtic accompaniments. An a cappella track "The Peace of All Things Calm" shows off the musicality of the vocalists. Perfect music for some precious quiet time. All the lyrics are carefully credited - mostly to David Adams' many prayer books, but also to the Carmina Gadelica, Ray Simpson and others. I can't help thinking it would be a good expansion of the liner notes to include these words, and some more of the magnificent artwork. I was a bit confused by the parts of the Lindisfarne Liturgy (track 16) not included on the album - Gloria, Gospel Acclamation, Agnus Dei, etc - it seemed odd to mention them in the liner notes though they are not on the disc. But all in all, a very pleasant accompaniment to your devotions.

After buying the "God of the Elements" CD on the evening of your concert here at the Hope centre, I have played it several times and love singing along with it. There are a few places where I can't quite hear the words and wonder if you have the lyrics in bookform or another form to buy? Sincerely grateful, Marilyn

Thanks Liz for your kind review. We didn't include the words this time because we're in the process of arranging to publish a book with lyrics and music for our music and didn't want to infinge copyright whatever.

I'll let Jacynth email you with her thoughts about the pieces left out of the liturgy.

Thanks again

Heather
