This CD is part of a series from JVC of vocal artists from all over the world. However, I am not here to review the others, and to be honest I'm not too interested in them - especially the album in praise of Krishna! 'Canto Gregoriano' is a Christmas programme performed from the following manuscripts: 1. The "Masse In Nativiate Domini" (The Proper Mass for Christmas) - "In Vigilia" (the day before Christmas) - "In Nocte" (the night) - "In Die" (Christmas day); 2. The "Missa In Epiphania Domini" (The Proper Mass for Epiphany); 3. Selections from the "Uffucio". The music is from the 10th and 11th centuries and represents the early, codified celebration of Christmas and the Nativity in the Catholic Church. Listening to this hauntingly beautiful album I can honestly say that you need not wait for Christmas. Besides I don't speak Latin, so I can't say that I understand the words. As I listen to 'Tempus Nativitatus' I can't help but think of Cadfael and Vespas. This album is also good as a background during prayer. I enjoyed this album immensely! You can do the same!
