The lead singer of Chos3n, Juliette Farrell, is soon to release a solo project. But in case you missed it, the group released this 11-song project in 2015. 'We Are Chos3n' is sassy, modern R&B featuring songs of faith in Jesus set against thuds, clicks and urban grooves that have more than a bit of UK grime flavor. The trio's harmonies on the often intricate vocal parts are exemplary and no doubt demonstrate countless hours of rehearsal. What is lacking on this set is a top line melody strong enough the catch the listener's ear while there are occasional lapses in production, like the long rhythm-track-only piece of "Thank You" which is crying out for a sax break. Chos3n clearly have the vocal chops. What they need are memorable songs - there is only one here, the funky "Brush Your Shoulders Off". But one hot cut doesn't make for a good album.
