This 2005 release has been lurking unplayed and unreviewed in one of the darker corners of Cross Rhythms Villas for too long. Really, I should have passed it to Mike Rimmer to review as he once went on record naming Louisiana's Mary's Den as one of his favourite worship bands and Crispin is in fact the songwriting singer with that particular aggregation. Crispin specialises in earthy, bluesy roots rock which, just as it says in his bio, "is full of soul, grit and passion." At times he sounds more than a bit like Van Morrison and on others recalls Kevin Prosch. Recorded on location in North Mississippi this takes in quite a few styles and occasionally lacks a little in the production department but the sheer vibrancy of Crispin's vocals and his no frills songs of faith make it the kind of passionest and honest release you'd expect from a coffee house veteran.
