Darren Streblow is introduced by Thor Ramsey and the Bananas TV franchise with fantastic effect in this showcase of the hilarious talents of the man from North America. Ramsey is every hyperactive youth leader you've ever met - picture Timmy Mallet on pro plus and you're there - but thankfully, his role is to introduce the more subtle and deadpan comedy stylings of Streblow. We are treated to live footage of a comedy show, sprinkled with snippets of interviews with the man, and several bite-size sketches (Darren in the mattress store being a particular personal highlight). Darren has an amazing comedy voice - it's easy to see why he started out in radio - but is well capable of packing a physical comedy punch or two as his rendition of a proposed new American national anthem shows. One word of caution: there are a lot of American references, and I still wouldn't say this was fun for all the family - more "fun for the dad and the cynical 13 year old." DVDs these days mean extras, and we're treated to the full showing of the interviews and a few obligatory cut scenes. Darren is a witty, dry and engaging performer, with undoubted talent; proof that Christian comedy doesn't have to be a contradiction in terms!
