DeWayne Woods has an amazing testimony that he shares on this, his first solo album since leaving the Tri-City Singers: being completely healed of HIV. So the theme of God's healing power and grace flow through this lively and passionate collection of songs, with titles such as "God Still Heals", "I Lift My Hands", "Made A Way". Donald Lawrence, former leader of the hitmaking Tri-City Singers, has done a great job producing this album, which oozes with class and quality. The band and choir produce multi-layered textures and timbres which few people have the experience and skill to create. Meanwhile, DeWayne's voice is silky smooth yet powerful and agile. Mr Woods sticks closer to the stylistic roots of gospel music than the likes of Kirk Franklin and Fred Hammond, but the quality and energy is truly on a par. It could even perhaps be fair to describe him as the new Andrae Crouch of the Twenty-Noughties.
