Reviewed by Paddy Hudspith So every summer festival has its accompanying CD these days. This is the first offering I've heard from Detling, a "family Bible Week run in the heart of Kent", and it raises for me the familiar question: are such CDs intended to be simply a souvenir of the experience for those who attended, or should they stand as recordings in their own right for those who did not? After listening to 'Your Kingdom Come', I confess I still cannot answer the question completely. Russ Hughes is the principal worship leader here (in the vein of Stoneleigh's Stuart Townend), singing his own songs and a pleasing range of others, including hymns ("How Great Thou Art" and older choruses ("Salvation Belongs To Our God"), whilst Eoghan Heaslip impresses on a few well chosen "new classics" such as "Forever", "Jesus Thank You For The Cross" and the Redman's "Blessed Be The Name". Sadly, the best vocalist of the three, Simon Goodall, contributes only once: a beautifully restrained arrangement of his own "Deeper In Love With You". Overall though, there is little to make this really stand out from the annual crowd of live worship offerings; more of Sarah Drake's oboe or Steve Wiltshire's sax in the final mix would have given more flavour to the arrangements but, hey, that's live! Eric Delve's sleevenotes proclaim, "If you were there, this CD will remind you what we all shared. If you were not, you really missed something special." Well, yes and no.
